Idyllic flat in charming neighbourhood: renovated garden house, built 1917

My spacious (60 square metres) 2 room cherished flat on the first floor with a southeast balcony in the center of Berlin Friedenau is available from October 2024 through to May 2025 (most probably for longer), while I am teaching in Krakow. Friedenau is a quiet but central, leafy area of Berlin with front gardens, small streets and houses from the late 19th and early 20th Century. I love my apartment, especially my old wooden floors and furniture and have been living here myself. I am renting it for the time I will be working at a University abroad and am therefore looking for a reliable, quiet person (ideal) or couple (the bed may be a little narrow - 140 cm for two) who will cherish my flat and look after it well. The flat has high ceilings, large windows, wooden floors, a balcony a communal garden and friedly neighbours. It is quiet with all windows overlooking the well-kept garden. Two parcs are nearby in walking distance: a small one is at the other end of the small street (8 min) and a larger one, ideal for jogging, ballgames or a walk through the “Stadtpark Schöneberg” (approx. 12 min.). It has an excellent bed for sensitive backs (190x140), internet, radio, CD player (no television) and lots of books. The two large rooms are equal in size. The bedroom/study, is an adjoining room which can only be reached through the living room. A few old wooden stairs lead to the small tiled bathroom which has a window and a bathtub with a hand-shower, the toilet is separate. The kitchen is not brand new, but fully equipped and a pleasure to cook in. Two people can easily eat in the kitchen. In addition there is a diningtable in the livigroom. Public transport (circular line, S 1, U 9, bus-stops) is excellent. All Universities can be reached within 20 min. per public transport. The FU (and Dahlem with all its other research institutes) can also be reached by a highly recommendable 15-20 min., idyllic bike ride along small roads past apartment houses dating back to around 1900, town houses and then along a bike-path past Berlin-Dahlem’s fields – or by Bus, U1 or S1. I use the bike a lot, since there are lots of small roads and parks towards the city center and out of the city. The city highway is also close, but not too close (no extra noise and pollution). There are three organic food shops within 10 min. walking distance, one is directly across the road, and two other food shops as well as two bookshops are approx. 2 and 5 min. away. Thursdays and Saturdays there is a farmers market with organic and regional food just around the blook in the idyllic marketplace of Friedenau, various restaurants are in walking distance, a large shopping street (Schlosstraße) is approx. 4 min. bus ride away, the Kurfürstendamm can be reached easily in 7 min. via the underground (U9). With one change the U 9 also takes you to the TU in approx. 15 min. The S-Bahn (urban train, S 1) takes you to the Potsdamer Platz and Friedrichstrasse (Humboldt University) in 10 and 15 min. and, in the other direction, to the FU (15 min), to a beautiful lake for a swim (Schlachtensee) within 17 min., to the Wannsee and to Potsdam (32 min.). From Wannsee it is possible to take a boat (20 min) to the other side of the havel where time seems to have stoped. This is partly whay I chose to live here: it is just as easy to reach the city center as it is to reach the lake an leave the city behind you.
